First totaled 2024 Sonata N-Line

I made a main post with the aftermath pictures.

Why so fast in those conditions?

On the stock all seasons according to his pictures. I wouldn’t have driven that fast in these conditions on winter tires.

I’d recommend taking a defensive driving course. They are helpful.

This was avoidable.

Looks like you could have avoided that if you were driving defensively. He was leaning to your lane far before he hit you and you continued speeding up.

Glad you’re okay though!

This dash cam has a high field of view and is deceptive on actual distance. OP had maybe a second and a half to react, in icy conditions. Also, I’m sure the last thing they need is a driving lesson right now :smile:

Very childish.

What kind of tires did you have on the N-Line?

Mud and snow or real winter tires?

I ask because you spun out like your tires were made of hockey pucks instead of rubber.

Edit: also next time just hit the fucking bastard. He cut you off even if you were going a little fast. He KNEW you were there and hesitated changing lanes. Then last second he just decided to fuck it and cut you off.

@Asher
It was the stock all seasons and the reason it spun out was the other driver hit the back left of the car. Kinda like a pit maneuver lol.

How did the guy hit the left rear of your car? Makes more sense if they hit the right rear.

Ahh, you did a good job driving it out. Fence, trees, and the telephone pole all had your number…

A shit load of bonus points were left. See that ramp at the end of the video to the right of the telephone pole? shoooom

Too fast for conditions for the driver. The other driver would have also been cited for improper lane change. You’re supposed to stop in each lane to make sure before changing lanes again, no matter if he had his signal on.

Drive a speed that is safe for the conditions, and this would never have happened.

It’s so hard to defend a fellow Hyundai driver here.

Bud, you were driving way too fast for shit weather in the first place, and you could have avoided this if you were just doing the speed limit for the conditions. I have Weatherforce 2’s from Firestone. Best damn snow treads imo, and I still wouldn’t have been going that fast. Good to know you’re okay, but slow down. Now for the ass that cut you off. They will be held accountable for their mistake via insurance. Just slow down and be smart. You must be young in age or just don’t care about your life no more lol.

@Blaire
Yep, I agree. As stated in my main post, my brother was driving and he is not a good driver. If I had a say, he wouldn’t have driven it in the first place, but I only had my learner’s permit and it was the family car.

OP didn’t seem like they even tried to slow down, just tried to pass. The Cherokee was wrong for how they changed lanes, but there was plenty of time for OP to slow down and try to avoid instead of keeping pace and trying to get around it. No horn, no nothing. Both bad drivers.

“First”? Do you plan on totaling more?
