I’m a first-time Sonata owner and was surprised that mine didn’t come with ambient lighting options. Should I go back and ask about it? I thought it was standard on the SEL trim.
The SEL doesn’t come with ambient lighting. That feature is exclusive to the N-Line and Hybrid Limited models here in the US.
Not sure if they can just add that feature. Might be worth asking.
If not, there are DIY kits available that offer a lot more options.

I’m leaning towards getting a kit since it looks like the SEL Sonata doesn’t come with it. They mentioned that only the SEL LIMITED and the N-Line have ambient lighting, which is disappointing. I REALLY wanted it, but the SEL has AWD, and that’s a must for the Northeast.

You could technically install the factory ambient lighting, but the cost of new door panels and an infotainment unit with that feature would be ridiculously high for just a bit of extra lighting.
I believe ambient lighting is included only on the Limited Hybrid and N Line, but I could be wrong.

That was one of my first impressions too, but I haven’t had any issues besides that.
I have a '21 but I love the new styling on the latest models!
The ambient lighting is included with the SEL Elantra. That’s what’s in mine.

My 2024 Elantra N-Line had ambient lighting too! I didn’t even realize it until it was dark out, lol.
My 2024 Elantra SEL has ambient lighting, but it doesn’t have a sunroof or a charging dock. I guess it depends on the trim level.
One thing I’ve noticed about Hyundai is that they have few features available unless you’re looking at the highest trim levels.
My SEL came with ambient lighting.
