My 2015 Sonata Eco won’t start. I took one kid to school this morning and everything worked great. About 15 minutes later, I was trying to leave the house and the vehicle wouldn’t start. When the key is turned to ON, radio, wipers, lights, everything are functioning. But when I turn, it doesn’t properly turnover.
This happened to me a few weeks ago, 2019 Sonata, except I had no crank whatsoever even though all the lights were working. Turned out to be major corrosion on the wiring preventing the car from turning over. I live in an area where we have cold weather and snow 6 months out of the year. Got the wiring fixed and it’s good as new again. Most likely a battery or alternator issue or corrosion like my case.
Agreed with the battery terminals comment. I’d add that you should tug a bit on the cables where they attach to the battery terminals. If they move at all, they need to be tightened. Also watch for signs of corrosion in the same area. Likely a 10mm wrench will tighten those cables if loose. Good luck.
Update - the car starts with a jump instantly. Drove about half an hour on it, parked it, turned off, immediately tried to restart, nothing. Battery not holding any charge I’m guessing. I’m going to try a battery swap today.
