My 2006 Sonata 3.3L V6 lost its serpentine belt. I replaced it, but can see an oil leak coming from behind the crankshaft pulley. Just wondering if anyone has experience or advice, like if it is a seal that can be DIY replaced through the fender? Or is this more for the pros? Estimate range? Thank you.

Make sure your crank pulley isn’t loose and rubbing into the block. The block is aluminum and will be ruined if it’s leaking oil. I’ve never done the pulley seal, but I’ve done the pulley itself, and to get to the pulley you have to take the passenger side tire off and either use a very strong impact or a breaker bar braced to the ground while turning the key. If this isn’t something you have the ability to do I would suggest taking it to a mechanic.
@Frances
It is not rubbing, but when the serpentine belt started coming off it wrapped a cord tight around it, so I’m concerned that could have damaged it. I don’t know if the leak is older and the reason why the belt slipped off, or new damage from the incident. So if the pulley un-bolts with relatively common tools that should help with the cost anyways. Thanks.
@Corey
You need to be able to jack it up and have jack stands, a 1/2” breaker bar, and the correct size socket, and a torque wrench.
You most likely need a crankshaft seal. Which means getting the pulley off.
Thanks, ordered seals and a repair sleeve JIC to at least try. The mechanics I trust aren’t available until late next week.

Was able to get off fairly easily thanks to you all. The serpentine belt shred had torn out the inner gasket lip. Replaced it and the harmonic balancer since it was off.
