Close to buying 2025 Sonata Hybrid. Any thoughts, opinions, warnings etc? Thx

I’m really close to pulling the trigger on a 2025 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, and I’d love to hear some thoughts before I commit. Does anyone have experience with this model? How’s the reliability and fuel efficiency? Any issues I should be aware of, or things to watch for?

I’m especially curious about:

  • Long-term maintenance costs
  • Real-world gas mileage
  • Comfort and tech features

I want to make sure I’m making the right choice, so any opinions, warnings, or advice would be super helpful.

I just got a 24 Hybrid limited. I’ve had it for almost two months, 1180 miles. It rides very smooth and certainly has every feature I could want in a car. People often compliment how it looks. I do think the pick up is a bit slow sometimes and winter mpg has not been ideal.

I like it a lot but I don’t love it yet. But for the price and features, you can’t beat it. It’s replacing a 24 Accord Hybrid Touring that I had for two months before someone t-boned me and totaled it. I loved that car from the get-go. But dealers weren’t willing to offer me a good deal on a new one, so I found the Sonata.

I keep hoping that same feeling I had when driving the Accord comes to me with this Sonata. I can’t figure out yet why I don’t love it. It certainly has more features than the Accord. But I hope it does come because I want to keep this car for 8-10 years.

I tried the Accord Touring but the suspension was so stiff I felt every bump, which wasn’t what I had in mind, but besides that, it drove great (as did the Camry).

Thanks.

@Hadi
Yes! That’s what I mean when I say the Sonata rides much smoother. The 19” tires in the Accord Touring did it no favors.

Can’t hurt to ask, right?

Had my 24 Sonata Hybrid for almost three months. Replaced a 2016 Sonata Limited. Super happy with my choice. Test drove a ton of other vehicles and just couldn’t get past how smooth and quiet the Sonata is. It’s not gonna win any races, but 41mpg is nice. Yes, that’s gone down a bit with the cold weather, but that’s to be expected. Haven’t had any issues so far. By far the most options on a car in its class at this price point.

I bought a brand new 2022 Sonata Hybrid a couple of years ago and I deeply regretted it. I had software issues with the car, transmission issues, people didn’t understand it wasn’t a Kia boys target year but they kept trying to steal it anyway, which yielded a broken door handle. Hyundai service really sucked, Hyundai corporate would not acknowledge any issue so the warranty was essentially useless, and the hybrid system was nice but a little unrefined. I traded it for a '25 Toyota Camry hybrid and I love it much more.

Yikes. You feel confident that it was corporate vs the dealer?

It was actually both. The dealership said they couldn’t diagnose the exact issue and corporate said they rely on dealers to find an exact cause and solution. It was a big mess. They had the car for months at a time.

I have a 23 Hybrid Limited bought in November 23. I’ve put almost 19,000 miles on it and it’s been great, zero issues.
