One Month of Ownership Review - 2024 Sonata N-Line

Hey there very good review. My 2024 N Line is a little over 3 months old. I love it very much however I do slightly disagree with how you said you wouldn’t take turns hard in it. I’d like to think I take some turns hard in my N vs my older 2018 Accord Sport 2.0T and it corners hard and flat. I can’t tell that Albert Biermann designed this car. In my opinion, it is very BMW M like and I love that about it. The seats are great, power is fantastic, etc. I’m also averaging better MPG vs my older Honda which got about 24-25 MPG; I’m averaging 27-28 MPG. I love the bigger engine and how Hyundai mapped out each driving mode.

@Zadie
Lol, you said BMW M like. Please, I love my wife’s car, but don’t compare these to an M5.

Lol, while our Hyundai vehicle doesn’t have the performance of an M5 it doesn’t have the payment or repair bills either! Loved my BMW, hated the cost.

@Bowie
:joy: I hear ya there! Yeah, the repairs of German cars are so expensive. I love my N to death though!

Facts lol. People LOVE to compare to shit they have 0 clue about! “Oh trust me! This 30k BRZ handles EXACTLY like a Porsche!” or these “Why buy a 70k BMW M car when you can buy this 35k Hyundai! It’s the same!”

Ya, no the fuck it isn’t. The Elantra N also isn’t an M car nor close to it.

@Paxton
Even my E39 with the premium and sport packages from '03 would smoke my wife’s '23 Sonata SEL.

@Paxton
He wasn’t comparing it to an M5 per se. But the fact of the matter is Albert Biermann was the head of BMW’s M division. The evidence of his fingerprints all over this car is not a matter of opinion.

@Paxton
Bro you got to be careful who you use that analogy in front of. Now I have never driven BRZ but there are many car guys and even Porsche guys that will tell you a BRZ is like a poor man’s “baby Porsche”

They don’t say that because of the way it looks, or the way it sounds, they say that due to the nature of the way the car itself. The purpose of why it was engineered.

Now obviously a BRZ is not a Porsche. It does not take any level of knowledge or experience to know that.

But when you understand your average everyday enthusiast and what makes them tick. Most of them are not rich. Most of them can’t afford a Porsche and that is exactly who the BRZ was made for. The enthusiast who loves Porsche but can’t afford one but even then wouldn’t spend the money on one if they could. You even have some Porsche dads out there who do not want to shell out Porsche money for their kid’s first or second car.

No shit a BRZ ain’t a Porsche. But when you say it the way you do you just revealing to people who do have a clue, that you ain’t been behind the wheel of a Porsche enough to what a clue is in this instance.

Actually, it’s probably better in terms of reliability and maintenance costs! I’ll take a Hyundai SNL over an M. And I’ve owned an M as well and I can tell you they’re way overpriced and extremely expensive to maintain!!! I’m a BMW lover so it’s hard for me to say this, but it’s the absolute truth!!! PS4L!!! Go Steelers!!! It’s Lit!!! :fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire:

@Briar
Lol, I too had one, and even my sister’s M3 would spank our Hyundai. I no longer have it exactly because of the reasons you mentioned. I would love another one, just can’t justify the cost now that I’m a “senior citizen”. KC fan here, 2x going for a threepeat, you’re hopefully coming back soon. Good luck.

@Wynn
He literally said in his opinion it was M5 like. I have had an E39 and the Hyundai we’re discussing, my opinion is they’re not the same class. That being said, the Hyundai is overall a better value (price+quality+comfort+efficiency+fun-$=value).

@Bowie
He didn’t even reference the M5 specifically. But the fact of the matter is Albert Biermann was the head of BMW’s M division. The evidence of his fingerprints all over this car is not a matter of opinion.

@Zadie
This!!! It’s so refreshing to hear your honest and incredibly articulate and accurate comments regarding the Hyundai SNL!!! I completely agree with everything you said! I’ve only got a little over 2,000 miles on my onyx black SNL, but I absolutely believe it’s one of the best cars I’ve EVER owned!!! I’m coming from a modified 2017 Buick Regal 2.0 turbo car, and the SNL is just as quick and fast, and certainly handles better and has nailed the tech features and functions that has exceeded my expectations especially for the price point! Long live Mr. Albert Biermann!!! I’m glad you are enjoying your Hyundai SNL!!! PS4L!!! Go Steelers!!! It’s Lit!!! :fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire:

I bought a '22 N Line a few weeks ago and my review is largely the same as yours. I was shopping the used market with a budget of $30k or less and nothing came close to the mix of performance and features on the Sonata; mine came with under 6k miles on it and most of the original factory warranty for $26k.

It’s not a perfect car but it is close to perfect for me. It is great at both driving around town with my family or driving around back roads in Sport mode. Of all the cars I test drove, it was the only one that I was sad to take back to the dealership, and I still look forward to driving it every chance I get.

The US missing out on features that other markets (including Canada) received does bug me a bit, but the car does everything I need and things like the driving assists, nav system/CarPlay screen, and panoramic moonroof, are the best in this class. I also like the sleeper factor it has compared to something like the Elantra N or Civic Type R; it mostly looks like just another Hyundai Sonata to anyone who isn’t looking closely.

Very happy with it overall and hope it’s going to be a good car for me for many years to come!
