Hello,
3 Days Ago, the cabin of my car started smelling like shit. I have tried everything. I cleaned my car inside out. The car is perfectly clean but there is still a bad smell.
The smell remains the same even if the AC or Heat is ON & OFF. There is no smell if you stand next to the car. You only smell it when you open the door. I even left the car doors open and windows down for 2 hours but that has not helped at all…What should I do?
It is possible someone might have used this to spray into your car’s air inlets on the outside. Otherwise, I don’t see how a car can smell like sewage unless someone took a shit inside. You should also look into replacing your cabin air filters.

I think there is some water that is clogged. I will get it checked by the dealership. Also, I never knew there was this FART smell spray, lol.

Check for leaks and wet carpet. Wet carpet smells like garbage. I would avoid cleaning anything; wet from non-commercial extraction cleaning stinks and can cause mold. Get a moisture meter off Amazon. I bet you have wet carpet somewhere. If you have a sunroof, it could be leaking.
SLA batteries will smell like hair perm solution maybe a little sulfur. Where is the 12v battery kept in these?
@Kai
No, there is no wet carpet. I am pretty sure the smell is due to clogged water somewhere. I do have a panoramic sunroof.

Slightly damp carpet will stink. You might not be able to feel it. Check for tail light leaks by digging to the bottom of the spare tire holder.
I use this. Water leaks anywhere home or car are concerning. Moisture Meter
@Kai
Also look down into your cabin filter. Little animals like to get in there.

If all else has failed, a professional detail is in order. You say you cleaned the car inside and out, have you shampooed/cleaned your seats/mats? Have you cleaned underneath the seats and between the cushions and the center console? Have you checked underneath the trunk mat? These are all sneaky places where if something spills and rots it can be hard to notice. Have you tried a deodorizer? They sell smelly bombs that you leave in your car while it’s running the AC to cycle through the bad smells.
Just some ideas.
@Briley
Don’t forget to move your seats all the way forward and back and check underneath. Usually something spills like coffee or a dairy product and it stinks up the whole place cause it’s caked on the carpets.

@Briley
I have done everything you have mentioned EXCEPT deodorizer.
Cabin air filter is also good. I think this might be due to clogged water. I will take it to the dealership tomorrow.
It’s possible you may have a mouse/rat nest in your vents. As a mechanic, I’ve encountered this a few times. The urine/poop smell is really vile; even after removing the nest and cleaning as best you can, the smell persists for quite awhile. Look under the hood for nesting type material and/or chewed wires/plastic.
Guys! I finally have an answer. I took my car to the nearby dealership. They charged me $145 + tax diagnostic fee. $145 + tax for HVAC system service & cleaning. HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning. $165 for removing the backseat and doing cleaning. Also changed the cabin air filter. The smell is now gone, but not sure if it will come back the next day. I think all it needed was an HVAC system cleaning. I hope there is no smell tomorrow when I check. It has cost me $515 Canadian dollars
